Collinsons Stable
The long established family firm of J Collinsons & Sons dates back to 1836. Their horses have a distinctive "crested" head, drawing pin eyes and distinctive heavy dappling and are mounted on a stand with rectangular pillars, with the stand top having a distinctive "diamond" cover over the pillars. Branches of the family formed the Baby Carriages Company making very similar horses.
The style changed little over the years, so difficult to date, most here are 1950-1980. The craftsmanship, though not up to the high standards of Ayres and Lines in their heyday, is nevertheless quite comparable to many modern makers and certainly superior to cheap replica imports.
Restored as they are, they are good value against new horses, with significant investment value as antiques in the future.
We have restored these horses in a variety of styles, some keeping to the distinctive Collinsons dappling and paintwork, others with a more traditional look, so there's plenty of choice. We have more horses coming in, if you are after something in particular, contact Sally, she would probably find a horse that appeals to you.
