A selection of quality colour prints of antique and collectable rocking horses. Each print is mounted in a 12" by 10" card frame, with a bevelled 10" by 8" aperture and heavy card backing. The prints are from studio photographs from our collections, complete with a detailed description of each one.



  • ayres rocking horse F H Ayres rocking horse. Frederick Henry Ayres is regarded by many as the leading Victorian rocking horse maker. Certainly his firm produced a very classical looking rocking horse. This one bears the retailer's stencil mark for Barker's of Kensington and dates to 1933.

  • Antique Rocking Horse Picture The Tally Ho sets, meant as a training aid for young carriage drivers were marketed by Gamages of London circa 1912-14. This pair would have been mounted on wheels, with tack and a driving pole back to the young driver.

  • Lines Sportiboy rocking horse Lines Bros Sportiboy. Sportiboys were the most popular models produced by the post WW1 Lines Bros company, later to become Triang. The distinctive Triang badge, initially circular, though later triangular is often found on these horses.

  • JR Smith rocking horse JR and T Smith Rocking Horse. This firm traded between 1886 and 1916 when it was declared bankrupt. Distinctive for the positioning of the rocking iron brackets being over the pillars.

  • Antique Rocking Horse Picture Collinsons Rocking Horse  Collinsons of Liverpool traded from 1836 until 1992. Their post war designs are very distinctive, with crested heads, "drawing pin" eyes and rectangular pillars.
