A beautiful extra carved early Ayres rocking horse undergoing restoration. These early Ayres had distinctive and very substantial stands, mounted low on the stand, Slipper is as large a horse as the later 58" high Ayres horses, although with shorter legs and a much lower clearance on the stand.
Slipper has just started restoration, some original paintwork has survived under the acrylic paint sprayed on him on in the pictures above. Depending on how recoverable this original pattern is, Slipper should restore with some originality in his paintwork, the restoration will be as sympathetic as possible.
Slipper is available for £6,000 fully restored. The purchaser can still at this stage choose tack, saddlecloth colours and the mane and tail to be used in the restoration, which should be completed by July. Some of the pictures above show progress to date (25 June 2010).
