Another charming and unusual rocking horse who has just entered our stables. Scottie's maker is unknown although he is one of approximately 7 identical rocking horses who have all be found in Scotland. This would lead me to believe that he was made in Scotland.

The horse has original paintwork, a distinctive dapple grey, though there has been some light touching up over the black dappling. Light scratches and scuffs in places, consistent with age. Scottie has a blonde cow hair mane and tail, somewhat worn, but serviceable in maintaining originality. The leather bridle is of good quality, fixed with decorative pins and in good condition for a horse of this age. No reins. The black leatherette padded saddle is similar in style to that used on Lines Bros Sportiboys, there are small leather saddle flaps, with a red calico saddlecloth, with black trim. One stirrup is missing, the survivor is secured on a replacement leather strap. Scottie has glass eyes, the ears have a distinctive finish, though the left hand one has a small chip on the top. There appears to be a knot hole, circa 3" long and 1" deep on the left rear rump.

The stand is sound and sturdy, and in very good condition. Turned pillars with three pin  brackets securing the rocking irons.

Scotties history is currently being researched. His size means that he would be ideal for a collector with limited space.
